The US Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women, has awarded SLLS a grant to provide legal aid to domestic violence survivors at the New Orleans Family Justice Center.

The Family Justice Center provides a broad range of social services to domestic violence survivors in one central location. Thanks to this grant, SLLS attorneys will be on site at the Family Justice Center to help survivors with protective orders, divorce, custody and other family law problems. Clients will also have better access to other SLLS attorneys and their expertise in non-family law problems that impact domestic violence survivors.

SLLS has a long history of helping domestic violence survivors escape abuse and achieve life changing security, family stability and economic independence.  Domestic violence is a severe problem in Louisiana, which has the highest rate of domestic violence murders in America.
